I graduated from Villa Maria College in Erie, PA in 1982. (The entire student population was smaller than our Mt. L '78 graduating class.) The school no longer exists, having been absorbed by Gannon University. We had our 25th reunion last fall; I was co-chair of the reunion committee.
After a few years of bedside Nursing, I went to work for a hospital consulting firm where I traveled extensively for nearly 10 years. On the day my husband & I were closing on our house here in Mt. L, I was scheduled to meet w/clients in Chicago. One of the owners of the company attended the meeting instead of me; he also took my place on Flight 427 which crashed on descent that evening in Beaver County.
My husband & I met at a wedding where I was a bridesmaid and his cousin married one of my college friends. We'll be married 17 years at the end of September.
I am currently the Quality Process Improvement Specialist for the Pharmacy of Children's Hospital here in Pittsburgh. I ensure the hospital is compliant with the multitude of federal, state, local, OSHA, and voluntary regulations associated with medication management. It's not what I ever thought I would be doing as a Nurse when I graduated from college!
I've been actively involved with the Pittsburgh Irish Festival for 15 years. I was made a Festival Coordinator in 2004.
